The event, underway through Dec. 20, features Black-owned restaurants, pop-ups and food trucks in the Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile areas, along with fun ways to win prizes.

Alabama’s Black Restaurant Week is part of a nationwide effort aimed at stimulating growth of African American-owned businesses and farms across the United States. Through its various culinary events and campaigns, Black Restaurant Week helps introduce these businesses and professionals to the community. Launched in 2016 in Houston, Black Restaurant Week is now celebrated in 11 locations.

Among the Alabama dining spots taking part are Jake’s Soulfood Cafe in Hoover, Foy Superfoods in Mobile, Rodney Scott’s BBQ in Birmingham, Plant Bae in Montgomery and Eugene’s Hot Chicken in Birmingham.
