EXPIRED Flood Advisory for Parts of Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Winston Co. Until 9:30 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Northwestern Jefferson County in central Alabama…
Walker County in central Alabama…
Eastern Winston County in northwestern Alabama…
Northeastern Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama…

* Until 930 PM CDT.

* At 724 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain
have fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Jasper, Sumiton, Cordova, Dora, Arley, Parrish, Oakman, Addison,
Sipsey, West Jefferson, Lynns Park, Gorgas, Beloit, Gorgas Steam
Plant, Rocky Hollow, Burnwell, Curry, Quinton, Falls City and
Smith Lake.

Additional rainfall of 1 inch is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
