Strong Storms, Flooding Concerns in the Birmingham Metro

Colliding outflow boundaries have sent big storms skyward in the Birmingham Metro area, prompting an areal flood advisory for western parts of the city.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR…
CENTRAL JEFFERSON COUNTY IN CENTRAL ALABAMA…

* UNTIL 715 PM CDT.

* AT 517 PM CDT, DOPPLER RADAR AND AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED
HEAVY RAIN DUE TO THUNDERSTORMS. MINOR FLOODING IS ONGOING OR
EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY IN THE ADVISORY AREA. BETWEEN 1 AND 1.5
INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AND
THERE’S POTENTIAL FOR AN ADDITIONAL 1 INCH OR MORE FROM THIS
STATIONARY THUNDERSTORM.
