Breezy & Comfortable Just Before Midday

As of the 11:00 am round-up across Central Alabama, we have mostly clear to clear skies with a good cooling breeze that is helping to keep it comfortable outdoors. Winds across the area were out of the north averaging 5-15 MPH with some gusts reaching 20 MPH at times. Temperatures across the area were in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. The warm spot was Tuscaloosa at 83 degrees. The cool spot was Sylacauga at 77 degrees. Birmingham was sitting at 80 degrees. Dewpoints across the area were running in the upper 50s to the lower 60s.

Skies will stay mostly sunny to sunny through the rest of the daylight hours and remain mostly clear to clear for the night time and overnight hours. Afternoon highs will range from the lower 80s in the northwestern parts of the area to right around 90 degrees in the southeastern parts. Lows will range from the upper 50s to the upper 60s.

Much of the same story for your Saturday… plenty of sunshine with only a few clouds. We’ll continue to have lower humidity levels along with no rain. Afternoon highs will reach the lower 80s to right at 90 degrees once again.

ON THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY
1881 – Severe thunderstorms spawned more than half a dozen tornadoes in the Lower Missouri Valley. Five of the tornadoes touched down near Saint Joseph MO. In south-central Kansas, a tornado nearly wiped out the town of Floral. Hail and high winds struck Iowa and southern Minnesota. In Minnesota, Blue Earth City reported five inches of rain in one hour.
