Strong Storm Affecting Jefferson County

…SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR EAST CENTRAL JEFFERSON COUNTY
UNTIL 615 PM CDT…

At 550 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
northeastern Birmingham. This storm was nearly stationary.

Pea size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include…
Birmingham, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Trussville, Gardendale,
Irondale, Fultondale, Center Point, Tarrant, Ketona Lakes, B.j.c.c.,
Kingston, Five Points South, Birmingham Airport, Legion Field, U.A.B.
Campus, Birmingham Southern College, Regions Field, Alton and Grayson
Valley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
