Rain also continues across northwestern Alabama, including Franklin, Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, and Cullman Counties.

Thunderstorms are increasing over Sumter, Greene, Hale, and Marengo Counties in West Alabama. These storms will spread east-northeastward through Bibb, Perry, Dallas, Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Shelby, Chilton, and Autauga counties over the next couple of hours.

the storms are “elevated” meaning that their bases are not rooted in the surface layer but higher in the atmosphere.

A severe storm west of Laurel Mississippi is moving toward that Mississippi community. It will impact Washington County in Southwest Alabama in about 90 minutes.

Other strong to severe storms are over northeastern Louisianian and southwestern Mississippi at this hour. The storm east of Natchez has produced tornado damage all the way back into eastern Texas. Significant damage was reported just south of Alexandria, Louisiana around 9:15 p.m. tonight.
