Good afternoon to all of you cool cats and kittens… What a beautiful midday we have across Central Alabama as skies are just about completely clear with only a few rogue higher clouds drifting across the area. Temperatures as of the noon roundup were in the lower to mid-60s at this point, with Montgomery and Troy leading the way at 65 degrees. Sylacauga was the cool spot at 60 degrees. Birmingham was right in-between at 63 degrees.

Weather For The Rest Of Your Thursday

No complaints for the rest of your Thursday as skies will remain mostly sunny throughout the remainder of the daylight hours and mainly clear through the night. Highs should top out in the lower to mid-70s across the area later this afternoon with temperatures dropping into the lower 40s to right around 50 degrees for the overnight low.

Friday’s Forecast

Temperatures will be warmer on Friday as we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds throughout the daylight hours. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid-70s to near 80 degrees across the area from north to south.

2006 – Tornadoes and hail as big as softballs ripped through eight Midwestern states, killing at least 27 people, injuring scores and destroying hundreds of homes. In Tennessee, tornadoes killed 23 people, including an infant and a family of four. Severe thunderstorms, many producing tornadoes, also struck parts of Iowa, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. Strong wind was blamed or at least three deaths in Missouri.
