Areal Flood Warning: Etowah, St. Clair, Cherokee Counties Until 11:00 AM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has extended the

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in…
Etowah County in northeastern Alabama…
St. Clair County in central Alabama…
Cherokee County in northeastern Alabama…

* Until 1100 AM CST.

* At 750 AM CST, heavy rain that fell throughout the night and this
morning will cause flooding. Rainfall estimates of 2 to 5 inches
of rain have fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Gadsden, Leeds, Moody, Rainbow City, Attalla, Hokes Bluff,
Springville, Odenville, Centre, Cedar Bluff, Little River Canyon
National Preserve, Forney, Centre Municipal Airport, Glencoe,
Margaret, Argo, Ashville, Sardis City, Ragland and Steele.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are many low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
