Confirmed Tornado in Jasper County, MS Heading Toward Meridian; Will Affect Sumter County, Alabama Eventually

Storms are intensifying over Mississippi tonight, as we suspected and feared would happen.

The storm in Jasper Countywest of Paulding has a confirmed tornado. It is heading toward Merdian. It will eventually come up I-59 into Sumter County, Alabama near York.

There is a definite debris signature with the storm.

From the NWS Jackson:

…AT 1103 PM CST, A CONFIRMED LARGE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR TURNERVILLE, OR 14 MILES NORTHEAST OF STRINGER, MOVING NORTHEAST AT 55 MPH.

If you are in Sumter County, Alabama, now is the time to begin preparing if you have to leave your current location to get to a safe shelter.
