Chamber Of Commerce Weather At Midday
Sunny skies and mild temperatures are the main story at this midday hour on Hump Day. Temperatures are in the 70s across the area at this point with Birmingham sitting at 73 degrees. The warm spot is 79 degrees at Uniontown. The cool spot was 70 degrees at Gadsden.
We’ll continue to keep mainly sunny through the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours and temperatures will top out to be really nice. Afternoon highs will reach the lower to mid-70s for most across the area with the extreme southeastern parts reaching the upper 70s. For tonight and through the overnight hours, clouds will be on the increase and will keep overnight lows warmer than the past couple of nights. No rain is expected and lows will be in the mid to upper 50s for most. Lower 50s can be expected in the extreme northwestern parts of the area and in the colder spots.
Rain comes back into the forecast on Thursday as we’ll have a cold front working through Central Alabama during the afternoon through the night time hours. We could see some scattered showers as early as midday over the northwestern parts of the area, but the main bulk of the activity will move in during the late afternoon hours. No thunder is expected and rainfall amounts should end up in the 1/4 to 1/2 inch range. Rainfall should be out of the area not too long after midnight. Afternoon highs will top out in the lower 60s to the upper 70s across the area from northwest to southeast. Temperatures will quickly drop into the lower 30s to the lower 50s behind the front. Those lower 50s will be located in the extreme southeastern parts of the area.
