North Alabama Counties Cleared from Watch

| June 22, 2019 @ 4:16 pm

The NWS in Huntsville has canceled the severe thunderstorm watch for Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Lawrence, Marshall, and Morgan Counties in North Alabama.

The watch continues for much of North Central Alabama, including Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston Counties until 9 p.m.

Storms continue across Central Alabama this afternoon. Many of them are strong to severe. Several warnings are in effect. Damaging winds are the main threat and this has been borne out by several reports of downed trees.

The line of storms over western Tennessee will be our next issue for later tonight. The storms are intensifying but will run into more stable air over North Alabama, which could weaken them.
