…A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT CHILTON AND EASTERN
BIBB COUNTIES…
At 1217 PM CDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from near Ashby to near Lawley. Movement was
northeast at 35 mph.
Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include…
Calera, Clanton, Jemison, Thorsby, Maplesville, Lawley, Ashby, Gap Of
The Mountain, Brierfield Ironworks Park, Lay Lake Dam, Talladega
National Forest, Chilton County Motor Sports Park, Mitchell Lake, Lay
Lake, Randolph, Minooka Park, Lomax, Trio, Waxahatchee Creek and I 65
Rest Area.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may
cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
