Marginal Risk For Severe Storms Possible On Monday In Central Alabama
The Storm Prediction Center has introduced a Marginal Risk of severe storms over much of Central Alabama for Monday. At this point, there will be thunderstorms possible across the area with the potential of a few isolated strong to severe storms. Damaging winds and hail will be the primary threats with this event, but the tornado threat is not an absolute zero, so we’ll need to stay weather aware.
The Marginal Risk includes locations south of a line from Gordo to Hayden to Collinsville and stretches throughout all locations with the exception of the extreme southern portions of Barbour County (south of a line from Clio to Eufaula).
The window for the potential for stronger to severe storms will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm across the Marginal Risk locations from northwest to southeast.
Just goes to show you how quickly systems can evolve during the Spring Severe Weather Season… When I did the Weather Xtreme video late last night, models were not showing a severe threat in my eye, but just one model run later, now there is a threat.
I’ll have another update later today and another later tonight.
