Numerous Trees Reported Down Across North/Central Alabama Due To Gradient Winds
The line of storms has really become more ragged in nature and most of the heavier storms are now located in the west-central and southwestern parts of Central Alabama at this point. But we have seen more action from gradient winds with trees and power lines down than we have with actual storm damage.
Here are some local storm reports from across North/Central Alabama so far today…
4 WNW Brinn [Marion Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 02:30 PM CST — a large tree was blown down onto power lines on sr-253, near pleasant hill church, which completely blocked the road. winds estimated 30-40 mph.
3 N Saint Florian [Lauderdale Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 02:30 PM CST — tree is blocking one lane at the intersection of cr 61 and cr 24.
Jacksonville [Calhoun Co, AL] public reports NON-TSTM WND DMG at 01:00 PM CST — gradient winds blew a large pine tree down onto power lines in Jacksonville.
2 NW Killen [Lauderdale Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 02:23 PM CST — a tree was knocked down at 3871 cr 63, blocking the road.
9 ESE Waterloo [Lauderdale Co, AL] emergency mngr reports NON-TSTM WND DMG at 12:46 PM CST — tree down and blocking county road 2. likely down from winds ahead of main line of storms.
6 NW Underwood-Petersvi [Lauderdale Co, AL] emergency mngr reports TSTM WND DMG at 02:04 PM CST — a tree was knocked down on cr 8 east of cr 139 near the bridge.
1 SE Rockledge [Etowah Co, AL] emergency mngr reports NON-TSTM WND DMG at 01:53 PM CST — tree down involving power lines. time of report used for event. sub-severe wind gust of 30-40 mph.
