While Michael Is The Big Story, We Do Have Two Other Named Storms Out There

| October 9, 2018 @ 1:47 pm

Of course, the main weather story is the approach of Hurricane Michael to the Gulf Coast of the Florida Panhandle, but we do have two other storms to talk about out there in the tropics… Leslie and Nadine.

TROPICAL STORM NADINE

Nadine became a tropical storm earlier this morning, and as of the latest update, has maximum sustained winds around 40 MPH and a minimum central pressure of 1007mb. Movement is to the west-northwest at 9 MPH.

Some strengthening is expected to occur over the next 24 to 36 hours, but conditions will become hostile on Nadine after that and weakening will occur until she weakens back into a depression on Friday. Movement will be more to the northwest starting later today and will continue on that path until Friday. No threat to the US Mainland at all.

TROPICAL STORM LESLIE

This is the story about a tropical storm who simply refuses to go away. Leslie continues to hang around out there in the Central Atlantic well away from any land mass and is moving to the south-southeast at 13 MPH. An eventual curve back to the northeast then to the east will occur over the next 24-48 hours, while strengthening back into a hurricane. At this point, she should move onto the western African coastline either late on Saturday or early on Sunday as a weakening tropical storm.
