Wow It’s Hot! It’s The Midday Nowcast For Central Alabama
The Heat Miser and Mother Nature continue to keep us in an extremely hot weather pattern today, and as you can see by the image above, temperatures are already well up into the 90s across Central Alabama, and for much of the rest of the state as well. Birmingham was already up to 95 degrees as of 12:45 PM, with Tuscaloosa and Uniontown tied as the hot spots at 97 degrees. Sure, Jasper is showing 100 degrees, but we know that there is an error in the thermometer at that station especially when there is no cloud cover.
And speaking of cloud cover, there is not much out there to help us with any relief from the heat. Only some cumulus clouds may give us just a brief minute or so of shade from the sun. There are only two stray showers in the entire area: one in east-central Montgomery County just south of Pike Road, and one just to the east of Banks in Pike County. The rest of the area is dry.
For the rest of the daylight hours, we can continue to see very hot temperatures and hardly no relief from the heat with mostly sunny skies. There is a very slight risk of an isolated shower or two over the extreme southern parts of the area, while everyone else will be dry. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 90s, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a location or two give it a run at 100 degrees. Tonight will cool off into the lower to mid-70s for the overnight low with mostly clear skies. There is a very slight risk of a stray shower or two over the extreme western parts of the area before sunrise, but the rest of the area will stay dry.
