Sunny & Hot For Most, Showers In NW Alabama: It’s Your Midday Nowcast For Central Alabama

| July 27, 2018 @ 11:12 am

CONDITIONS ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA AT 11:00 AM

Much of the area is seeing plenty of sunshine on this late Friday morning, with the exception of the extreme northern and northwestern parts of the area. Cloud cover and a few showers have moved into the north and northwestern parts of the state and a few showers are showing up over Marion County. These are light and are moving slowly to the southeast. The rest of the area is dry. Temperatures are currently running in the lower 80s to the lower 90s throughout the area from north to south, with Birmingham sitting at 88 degrees.

THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING
For the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours, we’ll have a surface front push into the area that may bring a very small risk of a few isolated showers in the northern parts of the area. Much of the rest of Central Alabama should remain dry with the exception of the extreme southern and southeastern parts, where there will be a very small risk of isolated showers or thunderstorms as well. Highs will top out in the upper 80s to the mid-90s from north to south. All shower activity will diminish quickly this evening and we’ll be left with a nice night across Central Alabama. Lows will be in the upper 60s to the mid-70s.

THE CENTRAL ALABAMA WEEKEND
Much of Central Alabama will remain hot and dry throughout the weekend as well have a good bit of drier air to continue to stay over the area. The only parts of the area that may see any isolated showers or storms will more than likely be south of I-85 and east of I-65 on both days. We’ll have a good bit of sunshine with only a few clouds, and highs will be in the lower to mid-90s on both days. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to the mid-70s.

AN UPDATE ON THE TROPICS
For the next 5 days, the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico is expected to be free from any tropical development.
