May 2018 Could End Up in the Top 20 Wettest Months of May at BHM

Yesterday’s over three-quarters of an inch of rain at the Birmingham Airport put us back above normal for the month, with more rainfall in store.

We are now above normal by 2.4 inches over the past 90 days as well. And for the 365 day total, we are now 13.4 inches above normal. That’s really good news.

But still, many areas need rainfall in the short term.

And they’re going to get it. Here are seven days totals from the WPC:

If we get that much rain around Birmingham, we will be at a little over 7 inches for the month. That would be enough to get it into the top 20 all-time wettest months of May.
