Storms Weakening Over the East, Additional Storms Sliding Southeastward Over Northwest Alabama
RADAR CHECK AT 5:40 PM
Much of the shower and thunderstorm has diminished across the state but a small line of showers and a few storms remain over the east and northeastern parts of Central Alabama, along with a few scattered showers in North Alabama. We also have a few storms moving southwest over the northwestern corner of the state.
Those thunderstorms in the northwestern corner of the state will diminish in size and strength as they move southeastward into the northern parts of Central Alabama. The hi-res models are showing those dissipating before they reach the I-65 corridor north of Birmingham. The other showers in the area will continue to shrink in size as they move eastward and eventually move into western Georgia just after sunset.
One thing we’ll have to watch is for the development of fog as there is a good bit of moisture in the lower levels of the atmosphere across the area. Low clouds will develop within that moisture as well, so we’ll have a pretty low chance of getting to see starts overnight. Lows will dip down into the 50s during the overnight hours.
The good news is that weather will be fantastic on Sunday as skies will mainly be sunny and highs will top out in the lower to mid-80. Clouds will begin to increase during the overnight hours, but we will remain dry. Lows will bottom out in the mid-50s to the lower 60s.
Bill Murray will be watching the situation through the evening hours.
