A Brief Check On Our Weather Situation At 3:25 PM
RADAR CHECK AT 3:12 PM
A very thin and broken line of showers and storms continues to push slowly eastward across North/Central Alabama, with the strongest storms located over portions of Jackson, Marshall, and Dekalb counties where a Significant Weather Advisory has been issued until 4:00 PM. Pea size hail and wind gusts up to 40 MPH are possible with these cells as they move eastward at 25 MPH.
The rest of the broken line of rain continues south-southwestward from Center Point in Jefferson County down to Linden in Marengo County. At this point, no lightning is being detected on this part of the line, as most of the energy is in the northern part of the line. Behind this leading line of rain and storms, scattered light rain showers and sprinkles dot the radar back through the western parts of the state and back into the eastern parts of Mississippi.
Rain is still projected to diminish throughout the remainder of the afternoon and into the evening hours. The image above is valid at 8:00 PM tonight. Whatever will be left at that time will diminish soon after.
I’ll have another update within a couple of hours if needed.
