Superb Saturday Weather
It is oh so nice across the state and much of the Southeast today as sunshine is in full supply and we are all sitting in the 70s this afternoon. Yet another day when the complaints into the weather department should be harder to find than a cloud in the Alabama sky today.
We note a weak, dry cold front will move across the state today and this will bring with it a reinforcing shot of drier air into the state, and cooler air as well. With a clear sky and northwesterly flow tonight, a rather chilly night is ahead with widespread 40s and perhaps even some upper 30s in those colder spots.
A SPECIAL CONJUNCTION OF THE MOON AND JUPITER: This weekend, the Moon and Jupiter are converging in the constellation Libra for a special conjunction. Jupiter is approaching Earth for a close encounter in early May, making the giant planet extra big and bright.
On Sunday night, April 29th, the Moon will turn full just as it glides past the brightening gas giant. It adds up to a display of rare brilliance in the midnight sky.
ACROSS THE USA: An active storm pattern in the west will bring showers and isolated thunderstorms, and mountain snowfall. Dry and windy conditions across the Desert Southwest will keep fire weather threats elevated-to-critical, with conditions expanding into the southern High Plains on Sunday. A cool front will sweep across the eastern U.S. bringing much below normal temps from the Midwest to the Northeast.
SUNNY, A BIT COOLER TOMORROW: The continued northwesterly tomorrow will mean cooler temperatures tomorrow afternoon as well. After the chilly start, temperatures will only warm into the upper 60s and lower 70s. It will be another gorgeous day with sunshine everywhere.
LEFT TURNS ONLY: The weather could not get much better this weekend for the races at Talladega. The weekend forecast is for sunshine with highs in the middle 70s today and near 70 on Sunday for the Geico 500. Be sure to use sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.
