Freeze Warnings & A Wind Advisory In Effect Today
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Freeze Warning, which is in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM CDT Sunday. A Wind Advisory has also been issued. This Wind Advisory is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 2 AM CDT Sunday. The Freeze Watch is no longer in effect.
Counties under the Wind Advisory: Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, Russell, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega.
Counties under the Freeze Warning: Bibb, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Chambers, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, Winston, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, Winston, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega.
* TIMING…of strongest winds from 1 PM Saturday to 2 AM Sunday. Timing of cold temperatures from 2 AM to 9 AM Sunday.
* WINDS…of 15 to 25 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH are possible.
* TEMPERATURE…across the area may range from 27 to 33 degrees in the warning area.
* IMPACTS…damaging or killing of crops and other sensitive vegetation. Strong winds may cause limbs and weak trees to fall.
A Freeze Warning means sub freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
A Wind Advisory means that wind gusts of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult… especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
