Rain Ends Tonight; Nice Easter Weekend Ahead

| March 29, 2018 @ 3:01 pm

RADAR CHECK: Rain covers much of Alabama this afternoon; so far no severe thunderstorms and very little lightning. Still, a few strong storms are possible over the southern half of the state through the evening hours where the air has become more unstable in recent hours. Temperatures are in the upper 50s and low 60s where rain is falling; away from the rain a few spots have touched 80 degrees over East and South Alabama.

Rain will end from west to east tonight as a surface front moves east of Alabama. Then, tomorrow, morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine with a high in the mid 60s.

EASTER WEEKEND: Saturday looks delightful with sunshine in full supply; after a cool start with a low between 38 and 42 degrees, the high will be in the low 70s. Sunday will feature a partly to mostly sunny sky with a high in the mid 70s. A few showers could touch the Alabama/Tennessee border Sunday afternoon, but most all of our state will stay dry.

NEXT WEEK: An upper ridge will keep most of the state dry Monday and Tuesday; afternoon highs will be up in the 77-80 degree range. Then, we will bring in a good chance of rain and storms Tuesday night as another cold front approaches. Cooler, drier air flows into the state for the latter half of the week following the frontal passage; some spots could deal with some frost early Thursday with lows in the mid 30s possible for colder locations.
