Cool And Breezy Across Central Alabama At Midday
We have a decent amount of sunshine that is making it through these cumulus clouds that we have floating overhead across Central Alabama… unfortunately, the sun is not really helping out in making it feel any warmer. Temperatures are ranging from the mid-40s in the north to the upper 50s in the extreme southeast. The cool spots are currently Gadsden and Haleyville both at 45 degrees, while Montgomery, Troy, and Eufaula are all tied as the warm spot at 57 degrees. Birmingham was at 50 degrees as of 12:15 PM.
For the rest of your Wednesday afternoon and into the early evening hours, skies will continue to be a mix of sun and clouds, and winds will be a little breezy at times out of the northwest averaging 10-20 MPH. Afternoon highs are forecasted to be in the lower 50s to the lower 60s from north to south, but a few places up north will struggle to get out of the 40s, especially with the wind and clouds.
For Wednesday night and through the overnight hours, skies should clear out and you’ll be able to see a beautiful star-filled sky… if you can handle the cold temperatures. Winds will calm down some, but will still average 5-10 MPH out of the north and northwest before daybreak. Overnight lows will dip down into the lower to mid-30s. A Freeze Warning is in effect from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM Tuesday for all of North Alabama and the Central Alabama counties of Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Marion, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston. A Frost Advisory is in effect from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM Tuesday for the remainder of Central Alabama.
Thursday will be a warmer and a less breezy day. Skies will be mostly sunny throughout the daytime hours and winds will be out of the northwest at 5-10 MPH. Afternoon highs will range in the upper 50s to the mid-60s from north to south, but those wind will make the air feel a little bit cooler. Thursday night through the overnight hours will not be as cold and clouds will start to roll in. We’ll end up with partly to mostly cloudy skies by daybreak with lows bottoming out in the upper 30s to the lower 40s.
