A new tornado warning has been issued for much of Cherokee County.

A cluster of supercell storms over North Alabama is riding along a warm front tonight ahead of a small scale low pressure system.

They are currently affecting parts of:

…Winston…including Addison
…Cullman…inclding the City of Cullman
…Blount…including Ononta, Blountsville, Snead
…Extreme northern St. Clair…including Ashville
…Southeastern Marshall…including Albertville
…Etowah…including Altoona, Steele and Gadsden
…Southern DeKalb…including Collinsville

Here are the current warnings:

…Red = radar indicated tornado
…Yellow = severe thunderstorm
…Green = flash flood warning

Very large hail is falling from most of the storms, including:

…the storm approaching Reece City in Etowah County
…the storm just north of Ashville
…the storm between Brooksville and Snead in Blount County

There is a possible tornado in the storm near Ashville, although there is no tornado warning yet.

The storms will continue to ride east southeastward along the warm front.

For other areas:

Storms are increasing over northern Fayette and Walker COunties. The heaviest storms are northeast of Carbon Hill.

Storms are beginning to fire over northern Tuscaloosa and southern Walker Counties as well.

Storms across northern Jefferson County are not severe but could intensify.
