Bassmaster Elite Forecast: What’s The “Bass”cast For This Weekend?
Radar check at 9:10 AM on this gray Saturday morning is showing that conditions are dry at this point in and around Alexander City for this weekend’s Bassmaster Elite at Lake Martin. The good news at this point is that any major shower activity is well over 2 hours away. The bad news is that the Storm Prediction Center has the area in a Marginal Risk of Severe Storms for today and tomorrow.
Rain and thunderstorms will move through the area in waves, and with the environmental conditions in place, a few of these storms could be strong to severe. Of course, the largest threat for being out on the water will be from lightning… but the severe risks will be from damaging straight-line thunderstorm wind gust of up to 60 MPH, and a small risk of a brief isolated tornado. Winds throughout the day today will be out of the south and southwest around 10 MPH but could be stronger in any storm that passes through. Today’s high will be around 68 degrees and Sunday’s high will be around 60 degrees.
We’ll have updates throughout the morning and afternoon if any threatening weather approaches the tournament.
