Calm And Cool At Midday In Central Alabama
If you do not mind the air being a little cool at midday in Central Alabama, it is nearly a picture-perfect autumn day outside. They are very difficult to see on the latest visible satellite image, but there are a few thin cirrus clouds floating overhead. Those clouds are hardly making any effect on the sunshine reaching all of the way to the surface at full-force. Temperatures are currently in the upper 50s to the mid-60s across the area, with Birmingham at 63º as of 12:50 PM. You can expect these same conditions throughout the rest of the afternoon hours, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s across much of the area. Clear and chilly tonight, with lows reaching the 30s to the lower 40s.
Tuesday will be another bright and sunny day across Central Alabama, with slightly warmer temperatures and barely any clouds in the sky. Afternoon highs will top out in the mid-60s to the lower 70s. A few clouds will roll in during the overnight hours tomorrow night, but we will stay dry until late in the day on Wednesday when a cold front will bring clouds and showers to the area. Tomorrow night’s lows will be in the 40s.

On this day in 1988… Thunderstorms produced severe weather in Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma and northwest Texas during the day and into the night. Thunderstorms in Texas produced softball size hail at Alba, and wind gusts to 80 mph at Krum. Hail and high winds caused nearly five million dollars damage at Kaufman TX, and strong downburst winds derailed twenty-eight freight cars at Fruitvale TX.
