A Quick Update On Central Alabama’s Weather At 9:55PM
I believe we can go ahead and say that the severe weather threat for Central Alabama is over. Most of the stronger thunderstorm activity has mostly exited the southern counties of Central Alabama. Now we do have a few storms located over in Lowndes and Elmore counties, but these are starting to dissipate in strength as we have lost the convective heating.
Most of the rain activity that you see on the radar at this point should either completely move out of the area or dissipate before we reach the midnight hour. We should stay dry throughout the remainder of the overnight hours, but a few scattered showers could form and move through, just enough to wet the ground really.
Looking at the NAM-3k model run for Sunday, it is suggesting that another batch of storms could roll into the western counties of Central Alabama sometime between 10AM-12PM and slowly progress into the Birmingham metropolitan area between 5PM-7PM tomorrow evening. That is to go along with the normal convective summertime scattered showers and thunderstorms that we would normally expect in this weather pattern. There is no severe storm risk for anyone in the state on Sunday, as of the latest update. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds, and highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s throughout the area.
