Some Heavy Rain Out There At Midday, More To Come For Tonight
RADAR CHECK AT 11:55AM
Well, the moisture has returned in a big way across Central Alabama today, as numerous showers and a few storms have developed and moved across the area from the south. If it’s not raining at your place at the moment, or if you haven’t received any rainfall so far, there is a pretty good bet that you will at some point today.
There will be more showers and storms moving in from the south and the southwest throughout the day and into the evening hours. With precipitable water values running over 2 inches for much, if not all, of the area, you can expect the rainfall to be heavy at times, and I wouldn’t be surprised if amounts reached upwards of 1 to 2 inches under some of these downpours.
So expect multiple rounds of showers and storms for the remainder of today through the evening hours tonight. The rainfall should lessen in coverage during the overnight hours, but the potential for scattered showers and storms will still be there. When it’s not raining, skies will be generally cloudy with the sun maybe peeking out at times. Afternoon highs will be held back due to the rain and clouds, only making it into the upper 70s to the lower 80s throughout the area. Lows will only fall down into the lower 70s.
FRIDAY STARTS OFF WET, BUT DRIES OUT BY LATE AFTERNOON
Showers and storms that are left over from tonight will continue to move northeast through the area and will build in coverage throughout the morning and early afternoon hours. The good nes is that those will move out of the state by the mid to late afternoon hours, and we’ll actually have a decent part of the late afternoon through the evening relatively dry. We may actually have a few small scattered showers move in from the northwest during the late night and overnight hours, but these will most likely stay north of the area. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid 80s for most of the area, with a few upper 80s in the southern parts.
