Goodnight Arlene!
Well, as fast as she appeared on the scene yesterday, she went away as quickly this morning, absorbed by a large, non-tropical low.
Arlene was only the second named warm-core tropical storm in Atlantic history.
There may have been others before the satellite era, but they went undetected.
The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1. The general opinion is that a developing El Nino will suppress the overall numbers. But in those kinds of seasons, you have to look for storms that form close in to the United States. I think that this is a year that we will have to watch the Gulf of Mexico for a big storm.
