Skies Will Be Clearing, But It’s Mostly Cloudy & Windy For Most At Midday

| April 6, 2017 @ 12:28 pm

HOW’S THE WEATHER AT MIDDAY
For the northern half of the state at this moment, skies are mostly cloudy due to the wrap around on the back side of the low pressure system that brought the strong to severe storms through the state yesterday. There may be a few sprinkles out there in the northeastern parts of Central Alabama, but the rest of the area is dry. The southern half of the state are enjoying mainly sunny skies and warmer temperatures. Winds are out of the northwest averaging 10-20 MPH out there across the area, with gusts up to 35 MPH possible, so it will be pretty breezy on your lunch break.

TEMPERATURES AT NOON
Temperatures are much cooler today than it has been in Central Alabama for a while, with mid 40s to lower 50s in North Alabama, with mid 50s to the mid 60s throughout Central Alabama. The warm spot in these areas is Eufaula at 65 degrees, while the cool spot is Huntsville at 45 degrees.

REST OF TODAY
Skies will continue to clear out through the remainder of the day, but it will remain quite windy. Winds will be out of the northwest at 10-20 MPH throughout the remainder of the daytime hours, with gusts up to 35 MPH possible, and will slow into the 5-10 MPH range by the evening and overnight hours. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 50s to the mid 60s throughout North/Central Alabama. Skies will be clear for tonight, and lows will dip down into the mid 30s to the lower 40s.

FRIDAY’S WEATHER
A bright and sunny day for the last day of the work week… Clear skies and cool temperatures for this time of the year across the area, and it could be a little breezy as well. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 50s to the mid 60s throughout the North/Central Alabama area from north to south, and winds will be out of the northwest at 5-15 MPH. A crystal clear night can be expected across the area for Friday night, but lows with be rather cold. Overnight lows will be in the lower 30s to the lower 40s, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of the colder spots near or at freezing on early Saturday morning.
