Strong Storms Affecting Greene & Sumter Counties

Strong thunderstorms stretch along a line extending from 6 miles north of Jena to Paulette. Movement was
south at 60 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms. NWS Birmingham has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for Greene and Sumter Counties until 4:00AM.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Demopolis, Livingston, Eutaw, York, Cuba, Forkland, Boligee, Union, Gainesville, Epes, Emelle, Panola, West Greene, Thornhill, Boyd, Knoxville, Coatopa, Kinterbish, Walden Quarters and The University Of West Alabama.
