Severe Weather in an Unlikely Place…

| March 9, 2017 @ 8:30 pm

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued this afternoon for… Hawaii. It is in effect until 10 p.m. CST.

There is also a flash flood watch.

There have been a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of the island of Hawaii. One is currently in effect for the Big Island south of Hilo.

A flash flood warning is in effect for that same area and another is in effect for the island of Oahu. It is north of Honolulu, and no rain has fallen at PHNL (the Airport).

An upper level disturbance passing over the islands is causing the bad weather.
