Severe Thunderstorm Watch Continues for Central Alabama

NWS Birmingham has trimmed even more counties from the Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Marengo, Perry, Randolph, and Talladega were the recent counties to be cut. Only Autauga, Chambers, Dallas, Elmore, and Tallapoosa remain in the watch until 9:00PM.

NWS Birmingham has started trimming counties from the Severe Thunderstorm Watch. The first set of counties to be cut are Bibb, Hale, and Shelby counties. Only 13 counties remain in the watch until 9:00PM tonight.

NWS Birmingham has removed the last two counties of Calhoun and St. Clair from the Tornado Watch. Only the Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 9PM.

UPDATE: NWS Birmingham has removed Jefferson, Cherokee, Etowah, Greene, and Sumter counties from the tornado watch. Only Calhoun and St. Clair remain in the Tornado Watch Until 6:00PM.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 9PM.

UPDATE: NWS Birmingham has removed Tuscaloosa, Blount, and Walker counties from the tornado watch. Calhoun, Cherokee, Etowah, Greene, Jefferson, St. Clair, and Sumter counties remain in the Tornado Watch until 6PM. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 9PM for counties south of the Tornado Watch.

UPDATE: No more counties in the NWS Huntsville county warning area remain in the tornado watch.

The SPC has issued a new severe thunderstorm watch valid until 9 p.m. CST tonight.

Tornado watch conitnues for counties along and ahead of the line of storms pushing through Central Alabama until 6 p.m.
