Temperatures are in the mid 80s this afternoon with sunshine through high clouds, and as usual, nothing is showing up on radar.

TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: A weak front will be close to the northwest corner of the state, and we will mention the chance of a few widely scattered showers tomorrow and Saturday over the far northern part of the state, over the Tennessee Valley. This won’t be a widespread, beneficial kind of rain, but at least a few spots could see a few raindrops. The rest of the state is looking dry; the high tomorrow will be in the mid 80s, and Saturday’s high will be closer to 80. And, for Sunday, we project a partly to mostly sunny sky with a high in the low 80s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Clear for the high school games tomorrow night with temperatures falling from the mid 70s at kickoff into the upper 60s by the fourth quarter.

Alabama will play at Tennessee in Knoxville Saturday afternoon (2:30p CT kickoff)… expect a cloudy periods with a few light showers possible. About 75 degrees at kickoff, falling to near 70 by the final whistle.

Auburn has the week off.

NEXT WEEK: The weather looks very warm and dry Monday and Tuesday with ample sunshine, and highs in the mid to upper 80s. But, a cold front will finally bring a chance of rain to the state Thursday and Thursday night, along with sharply cooler temperatures. The high by Thursday and Friday will be close to 70 degrees. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

NATIONAL SHRIMP FESTIVAL: One of the biggest events of the year kicks off at Gulf Shores today, and the weather could not be better. Sunny days, fair nights through Sunday with highs in the 80s. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.

NICOLE: The hurricane went right over Bermuda earlier today; it is now slowly weakening and moving away from the island in the Atlantic. No threat to the U.S.
