We will maintain the chance of showers tonight as the upper low drifts westward.

TOMORROW/FRIDAY: Not much change. Generally cloudy, occasional tropical showers thanks to the blanket of moisture over the Deep South. Heaviest rain will be a little south and west of here, and highs will hold in the upper 80s.

THE WEEKEND: The upper ridge begins to slowly rebuild; showers and storms are still possible, but mainly limited to the afternoon and evening hours, and a little fewer in number. The high will be close to 90 degrees bot days with a mix of sun and clouds.

NEXT WEEK: Looks pretty routine for August; partly sunny, hot, humid days with the risk of “scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms”. Highs mostly in the low 90s. And, the good news is that we see no sign of any excessive heat (upper 90s or higher) over the next 10-15 days. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

TROPICS: Tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 10 days across the Atlantic basin. Eerily quiet for mid-August, which is usually very active.

AT THE BEACH: Rain is likely at times through Friday with only a very limited about of sunshine from Gulf Shores over to Panama City Beach. Rain could be occasionally heavy, and a flash flood watch continues. The weather will trend drier and brighter over the weekend and next week, although scattered showers and storms are still possible. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.
