Warm, Dry Weather Continues
FINE SPRING AFTERNOON: With a good supply of sunshine through high thin cirrus clouds (blowing off at high altitudes from the big storms over Southwest Louisiana), temperatures are in the 77-80 degree range for most communities across North/Central Alabama at mid-afternoon. Tonight will be mostly clear with temperatures dropping into the low 50s by daybreak tomorrow.
Thankfully, heavy rain has tapered off in Houston after morning downpours that brought up to 16 inches of rain in the western part of the metro…
TOMORROW/WEDNESDAY: Tomorrow will be another mostly sunny, warm day with a high at or just over 80 degrees. Wednesday will feature a partly sunny sky, and while moisture levels will begin to rise, it sure looks like most of the day will be dry. We will mention just a slight risk of a shower late in the day, and the high will be close to 80 degrees as the warm pattern continues.
THURSDAY: Showers and storms are likely Thursday afternoon into Thursday night as an upper trough finally lifts out of the western states, and the omega block pattern breaks down. The good news is that severe weather isn’t expected with weakening upper dynamics, and rain amounts will be generally 1/2 inch of less, noting like the deluge that brought the floods to Houston this morning.
FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: The sky becomes partly sunny Friday as drier air works into the state; Friday’s high will be in the mid 70s. Then, expect a delightful weekend, with sunshine in full supply both days. We reach the upper 70s Saturday, followed by low 80 Sunday. A perfect weekend for the Honda Indy Grand Prix at the Barber Motorsports Park… get ticket information here.
NEXT WEEK: Dry weather continues Monday and Tuesday; showers and storms return at mid-week Wednesday. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.
AT THE BEACH: Other than a risk of showers and storms Thursday, we expect mostly rain-free weather on the coast from Gulf Shores over to Panama City Beach through the weekend with highs mostly in the 70s. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.
