Brasfield & Gorrie, one of the nation’s largest privately held construction firms, plans to invest $18.9 million to expand its national headquarters in Birmingham, choosing to grow in its hometown over other major markets where it operates.
RADAR CHECK: Most of Alabama is dry at mid-afternoon; the sky is sunny over much of South Alabama, but more clouds are moving into the northwest counties of the state ahead of a disturbance rotating around a deep upper trough to the north. That feature will have potential to squeeze out some light rain, or even snow flurries or snow showers over the northern third of Alabama late this afternoon and early tonight.
Conditions are improving across Alabama this afternoon after an active night of heavy rain, strong gradient winds, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes.
The tornado watch is in addition to another watch that goes until 7 a.m. for just a few counties now in South Alabama and Northwest Florida.
There are reports of homes damaged in Panama City.
RADAR CHECK: A line of severe thunderstorms is moving through South Alabama early this morning, where multiple severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect. Ahead of the line, scattered severe storms have developed as well, some with signs of producing a tornado.
A second tornado has developed south of the first one in Mobile. Everyone in the polygon should be taking cover now!
The threat for severe weather continues early this morning along and south of a warm front that extends from southeastern Mississippi across Southwest Alabama into Northwest Florida. The threat will continue moving east over South Alabama through the morning hours.
Damaging wind gusts, hail. and tornadoes continue to be possible over South Alabama. The tornado threat may be increasing over the next couple of hours.
A powerful severe storm is moving through Clarke and Monroe Counties at this hour. It will be entering Wilcox County shortly. The tornado threat across South Alabama will increase over the next few hours.
