Watching a couple of tornadic storms in Butler and Choctaw Counties. Severe thunderstorm with large hail just west of Alex City. Storms are going to continue for several more hours.
At 714 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Chickasaw State Park, or near Linden, moving northeast at 30 mph.
At 711 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Marion, or near Meridian, moving east at 40 mph.
At 709 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Pentonville, or near Rockford, moving northeast at 25 mph.
At 705 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Ridge Grove, or 8 miles west of Lafayette, moving northeast at 35 mph.
At 659 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Jefferson, or 8 miles northwest of Linden, moving northeast at 40 mph.
At 616 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Oak Bowery to near Beulah, moving northeast at 30 mph.
At 609 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Snell, or 15 miles southeast of Meridian, moving northeast at 35 mph.
The SPC and NWS Birmingham have issued a new TORNADO WATCH effective immediately for the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Pickens, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Tuscaloosa. This watch is set to expire at 1 am Monday.
At 546 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lauderdale, moving east at 40 mph.
At 545 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Victoryland, or near Milstead, moving northeast at 35 mph.
At 543 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Victoryland, or near Milstead, moving northeast at 35 mph.
At 528 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Mount Meigs, or 10 miles east of Montgomery, moving northeast at 30 mph.
A Tornado Watch is likely to replace the Severe T-Storm Watch when it expires at 6 pm. This new watch will most likely be for all the southern half of Central Alabama to as far north as the I-20 corridor.
