When spring arrives in Alabama, the state’s fields and forests, yards and gardens welcome it by rolling out a parade of many colors.
While it is nice for now, storms are expected to form later tonight and through much of the day on Sunday, with severe storms possible.
Sorry, the video is short today, but I am in the middle of severe weather coverage as I make this briefing at the insane hour of 2:15 am Saturday morning.
Just before 3 am, radar shows the line of rain and storms just north of the i-59 corridor, but at this point, all activity is below severe criteria. However, when the line passes over, you can guarantee some heavy rain and loud thunder.
At 129 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Ider, or 11 miles south of Bridgeport, moving east at 55 mph.
At 123 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Bridgeport to Pisgah to Section, moving east at 60 mph.
At 120 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Hollywood, or near Scottsboro, moving east at 50 mph.
At 108 AM CDT, a tornado producing storm was located over Grant, or 11 miles north of Guntersville, moving east at 60 mph.
At 106 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Grant to 6 miles west of Guntersville, moving east at 60 mph.
NWS Huntsville continues a TORNADO WATCH until 3 am for the following counties in the Tennessee Valley: Cullman, DeKalb, Jackson, Madison, Marshall, Morgan. It has been cancelled for Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, and Limestone counties as the threat of severe weather has ended for those counties.
At 1244 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing a tornadoes was located northeast and southeast of Somerville, moving east at 40 mph.
At 1240 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Monteagle to near Winchester to New Market to Huntsville, moving east at 40 mph.
At 1227 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Addison, or 8 miles north of Arley, moving east at 40 mph.
