Alabama NewsCenter — Recipe: Apple Pie Sugar Cookie Bars
In my home, we are a dessert-lovin’ family. No matter if it’s cake, cookies or pies — we love them all. Lately, my youngest son has been on a sugar cookie kick.
The NWS Birmingham has just issued a freeze watch for Monday and Tuesday nights…other NWS Offices have done the same.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a freeze watch for late Monday night through Tuesday morning. You can see from the graphics that other surrounding offices have done the same. It will not be a surprise to see the National Weather Service issue some sort of Frost or Freeze Watch for Monday night for some of their counties in Central Alabama.
The rain is over for the most part for areas along and north of I-20. There are a few patches of drizzle or light rain to the north of I-20, but they are inconsequential.
The SPC is monitoring conditions over South Alabama, southern Mississippi, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle for gradual intensification of the storms that are dropping south. A tornado watch is likely later today.
Damaging winds will be traveling done AL-50 toward Huguley. This storm will reach Lanette at I-85 before 9:30.
At 845 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Ridge Grove, or 7 miles northeast of Camp Hill, moving east at 30 mph.
This storm shows a high potential for damaging winds. It also is showing broad rotation.
The best chances for severe weather today will be across the southern half of Alabama.
The strongest storms are across parts of Lowndes, Autauga, Dallas, and Wilcox Counties. The threat of severe weather will be over South Alabama today.
Severe weather is possible across the southern half of the area for your Sunday. Rain will be ending for northern and central sections. A freeze is possible Monday night and Tuesday night, so protect any vulnerable plants, pets, and people.
As of 5:30 am, a line of storms are lined up along and just north of the I-59 corridor and is very close to entering the Birmingham Metropolitan Area.
As we have nearly reached the 4 am hour, the storms have stayed below severe limits as they have pushed into the state. The line of storms will soon be approaching the I-59 corridor with heavy rain, lightning, and some gusty winds.
