RADAR CHECK: Rain continues this afternoon in areas generally east of a line from Huntsville to Mobile. Some showers are producing heavy rain and gusty winds, but the overall severe weather threat for the rest of the evening is very low due to the lack of surface based instability. The sky will clear from the west as dry air punches into the state.
At 238 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
The cold front is working into West Alabama currently and out ahead of it, we are seeing showers and storms developing and tracking east.

RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers are in progress across Alabama early this morning in the tropical air… this will be another day with occasional showers and a few strong thunderstorms. SPC has much of the state (except the far west and northwest counties) in a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms today; heavier storms will be capable of producing hail and gusty winds.
