NWS Huntsville will allow the SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH to expire at 9 pm for Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, and Limestone counties in North Alabama as the threat for stronger to severe storms have become more isolated and marginal.
As of 7:47 pm, we do have some loud storms moving over portions of Tuscaloosa, Pickens, and Sumter counties, but the storms are staying well-behaved at the moment.
RADAR CHECK: We have a few small, isolated showers across Alabama this afternoon, otherwise the sky is partly sunny with temperatures in the 86-90 degree range for most communities. But, active weather is likely tonight and tomorrow as a cold front approaches.
Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to continue to develop and intensify during the afternoon and persist into the evening. A few supercells and line segments will be capable of mainly a risk for damaging gusts and large hail.
Another day with a mix of sun and clouds in the Alabama sky and rain chances are pretty slim this afternoon; anything that pops-up will be very isolated.
ANOTHER SUMMER-LIKE DAY AHEAD: Temperatures will rise into the 87-90 degree range across most of Alabama today… for some it will be the warmest day so far this year. The sky will be partly sunny, and any showers that form this afternoon should be few and far between.
