As of 11:48 pm, there are no active severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for anywhere in North/Central Alabama, as the line of storms has moved into more stable air and is becoming a little disorganized.
NWS Birmingham has cancelled the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Chilton and Shelby counties, but continues the watch for Autauga, Coosa, Elmore, Jefferson, Lowndes, Montgomery, St. Clair, and Talladega counties until 2 am.
The severe threat is expected to continue for a couple more hours, but should become more isolated with time. Wind damage will be the primary threat along the leading edge of the line.
At 1108 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near West Jefferson, or 9 miles south of Dora, moving east at 40 mph.
At 1035 PM CDT, Gauge reports indicated stream levels on Indian Creek rising rapidly due to excessive runoff created by heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Flooding is expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.
NWS Birmingham continues a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 2 am Thursday for Autauga, Chilton, Elmore, Jefferson, Lowndes, Montgomery, and Shelby counties in Central Alabama, and adds Coosa, St. Clair, and Talladega counties to the watch.
At 1034 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Centreville to 6 miles north of Camden, moving east at 50 mph.
At 1029 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles north of Boley Springs to Binion Creek Landing, moving east at 40 mph.
At 1027 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Samantha, or 18 miles north of Northport, moving east at 45 mph.
AT 1026 PM CDT, A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR LOW GAP, OR 12 MILES NORTHWEST OF BRENT, MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH.
At 1012 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 miles northeast of Newbern to near Uniontown to Shawnee, moving east at 65 mph.
NWS Birmingham has added Jefferson and Shelby counties to the Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 2 am Thursday for Autauga, Chilton, Elmore, Lowndes, and Montgomery counties in Central Alabama.
At 959 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Shelton State Community College to near Greensboro to Chickasaw State Park, moving east at 55 mph.
