The greatest severe threat, including the potential for strong tornadoes, should focus across parts of southeastern Alabama in the next 1-2 hours.
NWS Birmingham cancels the Tornado Watch for Dallas and Perry counties in Central Alabama as the threat of severe weather has ended. The Tornado watch continues for Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Elmore, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, and Russell counties in Central Alabama until 2 pm.
At 1010 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Lowndes County Airport, or near Fort Deposit, moving northeast at 50 mph.
At 9:36 am, rain and storms continue for nearly everyone in three out of the four quadrants of North/Central Alabama.
Heavy rain will continue across the area for the next couple of hours. Some significant ponding of water on the roadways is expected. Areas with poor drainage will see rising water levels. The water is expected to drain off quickly once the rainfall stops.
Greene and Sumter counties have been removed from the watch as the severe weather threat has ended for those locations.
The greatest potential for tornadoes and damaging winds should focus across parts of southern Mississippi, southern/central Alabama, and the western Florida Panhandle over the next couple of hours.

At 725 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Blue Ridge, or near Wetumpka, moving northeast at 50 mph.
The Storm Prediction Center and NWS Birmingham have issued a TORNADO WATCH until 2 pm this afternoon for Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Russell, and Sumter counties in Central Alabama.
Portions of Central Alabama currently have an 80% chance of a Tornado Watch being issued soon, as there is a potential for a tornado risk developing this morning.
