The greatest damaging wind and isolated tornado threat should focus across a small part of central Alabama in the short term.

At 528 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Brierfield Ironworks Park to 6 miles west of Dannelly Reservoir, moving east at 60 mph.
A severe/damaging wind threat is expected to continue into the evening with a line of storms moving eastward. Severe Thunderstorm Watch issuance is likely.
At 517 PM CDT, Emergency Management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

The flooding situation across Central Alabama is quite serious in addition to the severe weather threat to the south. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!!!
Damaging winds and a brief tornado or two remain possible with the line of storms that in moving through the western parts of the area south of the I-20/59 corridor, while north of that, very heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds will be likely.
