
Flooding Becoming a Problem
A flood advisory has been issued for Blount County.
Counties are being cleared from the tornado watch. Your severe weather threat will end when the main line of storms passes your location.
All warnings for Central and North Alabama have expired or been canceled. But the severe weather threat continues until the line of storms now over West Alabama pushes east of your location.
This tornado will pass near Verbena and Mountain Creek. It will eventually move into Coosa County passing near Rockford.
Strong storm will pass south of Billingsley. It will cross US-82 shortly. Will move toward Deatsville.
As noted, we are watching a circulation moving out of Mississippi. The circulation is tightening just northwest of Emelle. Folks around Gainesville, Geiger, and Union should be in safe shelter.
Strong storms are moving into Northwest Alabama at this hour.
At 718 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Selma, moving northeast at 30 mph.
NWS Huntsville has issued a Tornado Watch for the following counties in North Alabama: Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, Morgan. This watch is set to expire at midnight tonight.
NWS Birmingham has issued a new PDS Tornado Watch for the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Marengo, Marion, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, Winston. This new watch is set to expire at 3:00 am.
At 648 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Old Cahaba Park, or 11 miles southwest of Selmont-West Selmont, moving northeast at 30 mph.
At 640 PM CDT, An area of continuous heavy rainfall will be ongoing across the warned area for the next hour or two. This area has already received several inches of rainfall throughout the day and this additional rainfall is expected to cause rapid runoff and overflow of area streams and creeks.
Additional tornado watches will be required prior to the expiration of the current watches.
