NWS Birmingham has removed Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Macon, Randolph, and Tallapoosa counties from the Tornado Watch as the threat for severe weather has moved out of those locations.
NWS Birmingham has removed Coosa, Elmore, Etowah, Montgomery, St. Clair, and Talladega counties from the Tornado Watch as the threat of severe weather has passed those locations.
At 1110 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for the western portions of Georgia and for the following counties in South Alabama: Covington, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry, and Houston.
A possible tornado is near Fyffe. It will be approaching Rainsville and Sylvania.
NWS Birmingham has removed Autauga, Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Lowndes, and Shelby counties from the Tornado Watch as the threat of severe weather is over for those locations.
AT 1042 PM CDT, A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO WAS LOCATED OVER CREWSVILLE, OR NEAR KELLYTON, MOVING NORTHEAST AT 55 MPH.
NWS Birmingham has extended the Tornado Watch in area to now include Barbour, Bullock, Pike, Russell counties until 3:00 am.
At 1030 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Hanover to near Lapine, moving east at 50 mph.
At 1026 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Many streams are near bank full in the area and this additional rainfall will cause urban and small stream flooding in some locations.
At 1022 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Albertville to near Pell City, moving east at 50 mph.
The line of storms is less organized than expected and moving quickly to the east. It will be running into drier air shortly and will start diminishing. There will continue to be decent instability along and south of I-85, and there could be a few cellular storms ahead of the line that could pose a tornado threat.
At 1006 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Leeds to near Columbiana, moving east at 50 mph.
The line of storms over South Central Alabama is surging eastward tonight, indicating an enhanced threat of damaging winds.
