CLOUDY, COLD DECEMBER DAY: As advertised, temperatures are only in the 30s and 40s across Alabama this afternoon with a cloudy sky. The average high for December 17 at Birmingham is 55. The sky will clear tonight, and we drop into the 20s early tomorrow morning.
As of 12:50 pm, all of the rain associated with the cold front has now pushed completely out of the area and we are left with cloudy skies and very cool temperatures.
Both NWS Huntsville and NWS Birmingham will be sending out teams to survey damage that occurred during last night’s storms.
WINDY, COLDER: Rain is still falling early this morning over East and South Alabama; that rain ends by mid-morning, and today will be cloudy, breezy, and much colder with temperatures holding in the 40s all day over the northern half of the state. The sky will clear tonight, and most places across North/Central Alabama will drop into the 20s early tomorrow morning.
A broken line of rain and thunderstorms continue to push eastward across the southern parts of Central Alabama while much of the northern half is drying out this point.
NWS Birmingham has canceled the Tornado Watch for the following counties: Autauga, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Randolph, and Talladega as the severe weather threat has ended for these locations.
