The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
The updated SPC Day One severe weather outlook is out and it now includes a slight risk of severe storms over Southeastern Alabama, including Greenville, Troy, Dothan and southern parts of the Montgomery Metro.
Rain is overspreading the state this afternoon ahead of a developing surface low over southwestern Mississippi. As the low approaches this evening, there will be a chance of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and brief tornadoes.
The threat for severe weather, including the possibility of a few brief tornadoes, exists for West Central and South Central Alabama this afternoon and tonight. The threat will be from 2 pm until 10 pm for areas west of I-65 and from 2 pm until 2 am for areas east of I-65.
There is a possibility of severe storms later today south of a line from Reform to Tuscaloosa to Clanton to Auburn, including the possibility of a few brief tornadoes. The threat should be between 4 pm and 1 am. Please keep this in mind as you plan your activities.
